A group of friends and I wanted to hang out and do something fun on a weekend. Initially, we had to decide on what to do, and we landed on mini golfing as a fun hangout option after eating dinner, because we would be playing around 7pm. Setting it up was difficult, as the four people involved (including myself) all had differing schedules and had different weekends free. Also, deciding on a place to eat was difficult as each person had different preferences and there weren’t a lot of good food options near the mini golf course.
Playing mini golf was obviously super fun, and I’m glad we decided to do that over the weekend. However, I recognize that it likely would not be as fun as it was without the planning that was done beforehand. Arriving in that area and having to randomly decide what to do and what to eat would have been chaotic and stressful, and planning minimized those difficulties.
Planning is an extremely important part of our lives. Being spontaneous and random is a fun trait, and I believe a healthy balance of both is essential. Being able to plan for events that are extremely important, while still being able to quickly come up with something to do on a free day is important for an interesting and healthy individual. Additionally, planning for the long-term, like high school plans, university, and degree paths is fundamentally mandatory in this century.
